Your challenge Design and implement complex backend services, APIs, and integrations in line with our architecture standards, proposing and defending options for microservices and domain boundaries. Lead and own key backend features and cross-team initiatives end-to-end, from design through production, ensuring operational readiness. Set and uphold code-quality expectations, championing clean code, test coverage, and performance across the services we own. Apply secure-by-design and privacy-by-design principles, and ensure logging, monitoring, and alerting are fit for production and compliance. Drive refactoring, technical debt reduction, and incremental modernisation, and support incident diagnosis and root-cause follow-up. Mentor mid-level and junior backend engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions, acting as a technical role model. Collaborate closely with frontend, QA, DevOps, data, and product teams, translating technical trade-offs into clear options for stakeholders. Bring hands-on AI knowledge to the role: integrating LLM APIs and AI inference endpoints into backend services, applying responsible, GDPR-compliant data handling, and using AI coding assistants to boost delivery quality and velocity.

5-7+ years of backend software development experience. Deep expertise with Java frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, and other relevant libraries. Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Proficiency in database design, optimization, and management. In-depth understanding of web technologies, HTTP and REST. Understanding of web security principles. Proficiency with development environments (e.g., IntelliJ IDEA), build tools (e.g., Maven), and version control systems (e.g., Bitbucket). Advanced knowledge in designing and maintaining APIs and microservices architecture. Knowledge of setting up asynchronous communication in AWS. Proficiency with testing frameworks like JUnit, Mockito, and integration testing tools. Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) in a cloud native way (AWS EC2). Proven experience in building scalable systems, performance tuning, and managing large-scale distributed systems. Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs and AI inference endpoints, including prompt design and RAG/vector database patterns. Exceptional problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions. Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Strategic mindset to align technical decisions with business goals and long-term vision.

Around it sits Spring Boot microservices on AWS, event-driven systems, and multiple PostgreSQL and Cassandra databases, with caching layers. Services run in Docker, and we test with JUnit and Testcontainers. You don’t need to know this exact stack when you start, as long as you’re eager to learn. • You'll build real backend features, API endpoints, and database queries, working closely with senior engineers and picking up our architectural patterns and coding standards as you go. • Writing tests is part of the job from day one, unit and integration tests you would trust yourself. Code review goes in both directions here, so very soon you’ll be reviewing other people’s code too. • Secure and privacy-aware code matters to us, and we want you to understand why we handle validation, error handling and logging the way we do, instead of just following a checklist. • Your sprint work is yours to own. Pair up with colleagues, speak up in stand-ups, refinements and retros; we would much rather hear a question early than find a bug later. • You'll pick up core backend architecture concepts, microservices, APIs, data access, caching, and start applying the patterns and frameworks your senior colleagues use every day. • Build a working knowledge of AI and LLM APIs, and stay curious about how AI-powered features work and how they affect backend responsibilities. You'll use AI coding tools under supervision, with peer review and guidance from senior engineers along the way.

0-3 years of backend experience. Motivation and how quickly you grow matter more to us than the number of years. You can write and understand Java and you want to get good at writing it well. Spring Boot and AWS come with the job. Our working languages are Dutch and English. You've worked with REST APIs and know your way around HTTP requests and responses. Hands-on time with Git and with a database, SQL or NoSQL. When something breaks, you want to understand the cause before you fix the symptom, and you're comfortable saying "I don't know yet" out loud.

As a Risk & Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in developing, implementing and continuously improving Yonderland’s enterprise-wide risk management and compliance framework. Reporting to the Head of Information Security & Compliance, who reports to the Group CFO, you will support the organisation in operating ethically, responsibly and in line with applicable laws, regulations, standards and internal policies. You will work closely with stakeholders across the group to identify, assess and mitigate strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, cyber, and third-party risks. Through a pragmatic and business-oriented approach, you will coordinate compliance activities, strengthen governance and internal control processes, and contribute to protecting Yonderland’s reputation, assets and long-term objectives while fostering a strong risk-aware culture across the organisation. You will Support the Group Risk & Compliance Framework: Develop and maintain the group-wide risk and compliance framework, coordinate risk assessments, manage the risk register, and monitor mitigation actions. Act as the Group DPO: Oversee data protection activities, coordinate with local DPO representatives, and ensure privacy requirements are embedded in business processes. Maintain the compliance programme: Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and contractual obligations, and support compliance initiatives across the group. Coordinate audits and assurance activities: Manage internal and external audits, track findings, and oversee remediation actions. Support the internal control framework: Assess key controls, identify improvements, and strengthen control environments with business stakeholders. Manage incidents and compliance breaches: Coordinate investigations, perform root-cause analyses, and monitor corrective actions and reporting.

4–6 years of experience in risk management, compliance, internal audit, internal controls or governance: You have worked in a structured environment where risk management, controls and regulatory compliance were important business priorities. Experience implementing risk and compliance frameworks: You have participated in the development, implementation or monitoring of enterprise-wide risk and compliance programmes. Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements: You understand how frameworks and regulations such as GDPR, PCI DSS, NIS2 or similar requirements translate into practical business processes, controls and responsibilities. Experience with audits and control assessments: You have supported internal or external audits, gathered evidence, assessed controls, and followed up remediation plans. Strong analytical and organisational skills: You are able to assess risks, prioritise actions, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously across a complex organisation. Strong stakeholder management skills: You can communicate effectively with colleagues at different levels of the organisation and build constructive relationships across functions, business units and countries. Pragmatic and business-oriented mindset: You balance compliance requirements with operational realities and help find workable solutions that support business objectives while managing risk appropriately. Clear communication and influencing skills: You can explain risk and compliance topics in a clear, practical way and influence managers, project teams and executives to take ownership and act. Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Information Security or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
